A structured and approachable red from the right bank’s Blaye appellation, this 2020 vintage from Château Gigault opens with inviting aromas of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and a subtle earthiness characteristic of the Blaye terroir. On the palate, it delivers medium-bodied fruit with notes of dark cherry, cedar, and a touch of graphite, supported by well-integrated tannins that are firm without being austere — a hallmark of the excellent 2020 growing season in Bordeaux. The finish is clean and moderately long, with a pleasant hint of dried herbs and vanilla from oak aging. At 14% ABV, this wine has enough structure to pair beautifully with the kind of rich catering fare KSC does so well — think braised short ribs, beef tenderloin skewers, or a well-aged cheese board. Drink now through 2028, with room to develop further if cellared.
